It has been great "meeting" so many of my Buena Classmates through this site and places like Facebook. Even though we saw each other in the halls of Buena, or had classes together, so many of us weren't in the same circle of friends, and it has been so nice getting to know so many of you over the last few months . . . . I can't wait for our 30 year reunion so we can talk face-to-face! It has become apparent that not knowing you back then was a big loss for me!
To catch you up on what I've been up to since Buena, I went to the U of A for one whole year and found out the college life wasn't for me. I came back to Sierra Vista and worked at K-Mart for a while. Then in 1983 I got a job at Roto-Rooter. I got married in 1984 to Theodora Cooke from the Buena class of 1983 (Sam Garcia's little sister if any of you remember him). Our first son was born in 1985. In 1987 we bought the Roto-Rooter franchise from my boss, and I have been running it ever since. In 1990 our second son was born. In 1994 my wife decided to spread her wings and fly, so it has been me and my two boys since then. They are both grown now, and my oldest son has two boys of his own (the two I'm holding in my profile picture) that keep this grampa happily busy as often as I can get a hold of them (minimum of once a week!).
I hope that you have also gotten a sense that you know me a little better as well from my many e-mails to the class. I also hope that you will not be tempted to show up at the reunion with a straight jacket and men in white coats to take me away!
It has been a pleasure working on this site because of all of you! The passage of time makes us all realize how special the people and experiences of our youth truly were, and the Class of 1980 is truly the best Buena ever had! |
